Great for kids!

I made one of these quilts for a friend's baby, and now that I'm expecting my own I'm making one for mine! It's the perfect size for a baby quilt or wall hanging to introduce kids to geography. Since it's not paper they can touch, or even lay on all the different parts of the world as they learn!
I used a solid quilting cotton in blue for the back my friend's quilt. But I used red/white polka dots for the back of mine, and it's really cute!
I just stitched along the latitude and longitude lines for really easy quilting.

World fabric map

Made panel into a throw, or wall hanging.
This was another way to help students get
a "hands on" learning experience. I learned a lot just by quilting the map. Colorful, not the "same old way" for students to learn.

Uneven cut

The content of the panel was as expected, however the panel was cut uneven so there was no seam allowance (margin) on part of the panel so I was unable to sew it to a backing. Therefore, I couldn't use it for what it was intended.
